The intent of Article 40 stands, Tulsa Developer loses ground
The Quoddy Bay project still has strong opposition to contend with, many of those opposed are tribal people themselves. We are committed to eliminating LNG from coming onto tribal land, and into tribal people’s lives.
Failing to buy a vote, Quoddy Bay’ developers refuse to read the writing on the wall by insisting that Perry’s vote is nothing but a “fashion show”. There is no guarantee that any LNG project will be approved, constructed, or operational as developers maintain, but there is certainty that our group’s aim to dissolve the “exclusivity agreement” between Quoddy Bay and Tribal officials has just been strengthened by Perry’s rejection of heavy industry.
Our neighbors from Perry took the first step toward a healthy resolution; we will take it further by ensuring that socially irresponsible development is prohibited from tribal land. We are comforted to know that our neighbors adhere to their common values of independence and integrity.
By honoring Perry’s vote, Governor Baldacci and Governor Francis can move toward bridging coastal communities in Washington County.
